MSWOODS HW

Othello essayErik Urdina Ms.Woods in life, you sometimes are to concerned believing in lies to see the truth. In Shakespeares "Othello", betrayal plays a key role in the story. Due to many of the characters blindness, many innocent souls who didnt deserve to die are sent into an early death. these people who had done little harm though out, yet were still taken advantage of in order to make the villain stay hidden. one such victim of this sad tragedy is Rodregio, while he is Iago's sidekick, he is treated more like a tool to be used in Iago's schemes. He is oblivious to the fact he is being used so that Iago would not need to get his hands dirty. this is mainly due to the fact his love for desdemona, and Iagos promises to gain him her love by getting rid of Othello. while not completely innocent, he is in the way that these plans were never really his, and merely was following orders to achieve his desires. Iago constantly convinces Rodregio to continue being part of his plan by feeding him with lies, such as making him believe desdomona is going with othello to africa. these lies control him, and eventually lead to an early death, due to his foolish actions.Emila was another character whos death was not deserved at all. Emila was a common woman of her time. respecting her husband and following his orders, not knowing she was secretly being used in Iagos ploy to end her close friends life. she had no idea that her husband had gone off the edge, even believing her to be unhonest, without any proof whatsoever. while her wrongs are undone by her revealing all of what Iago had done once she find the truth, this does not prevent him from ending her life prematurely. The death that was the most undeserved was that of Othellos wife, Desdomona. Desdemona's death was planned since the begining, and was one of the sole purposes of Iago's plan. being a strong woman of her time, she stood up for what she believed was right, never failing someone she holds close too. sadly, it was cause of this that allowed Iago to trick Othello into murdering her, turning her actions into acts of betrayal. despite knowing she was going to die, she never attempts to avoid it, showing he devotion. it may be this devotion, however, that prevented her from discovering the truth behind her husbands most "devoted" friend.
All of these deaths are due too Iago, and his ability to lead people astray. the character was able to trick all these characters to the end, leading each and every one of them into an early grave without them doing anything to him.
